Our Review of Sinatra
The mini-series was very well done with great acting, writing and producing. It tells the story of a very interesting person. His life was full of twists and turns. Not only was he just a pretty face, but he had real talent -- both with his singing and his acting. The mini-series takes you through his life from his early childhood in New Jersey (Hoboken) through his music and movie careers - and he suceeded in both.
Phillip Casnoff does an outstanding job of portraying Mr. Sinatra (and eerily looks a little like him) and was even nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance. The supporting case is amazing as well -- Olympia Dukakis (Sinatra's mother) is an Oscar winner and Marcia Gay Harden (Ave Gardner) is an Oscar nominee. They were all superb.
The production itself was well done as was the writing. The movie was both entertaining, as well as informative providing glimpses into his life on and off the screen. The soundtrack for the album, of course, is excellent, since the music is from the master himself. For a well done look into Sinatra's life, this DVD is what you have been looking for.

With an uncanny likeness to the legend himself, Phillip Casnoff (“Law & Order: SVU”), won a Golden Globe® nomination for his performance. Oscar® winner Olympia Dukakis (Moonstruck, Steel Magnolias) portrays his mother, Dolly, while Gina Gershon (“Ugly Betty,” Showgirls) plays Sinatra’s wife, Nancy. Oscar®-nominee Marcia Gay Harden (Mystic River, Pollock) plays the luminous Ava Gardner. More than two dozen Sinatra standards grace this lavish production and most are from the original master recordings by the “Chairman of the Board” himself.
