Our Review of Planet Earth

You know a program is good when a seven year old wants to keep watching it – especially when it is for the most part a documentary.  However, that term seems to be outdated.  Ever since Ken Burns came along and put feeling and visual enticements into documentaries, they have never been the same.  This production brings it one step closer – it includes masterful cinematography or places and animals throughout the globe – any of which are simply breathtaking.

Take a look at the pictures below to just get a small taste of the amazing imagery and photography within this series.

Even with all the special effects, the calming voice of narrator David Attenborough and the script still hold true to a documentary’s its purpose, to educate its viewers about the world around us.  This series of five disks produced by BBC Video gets you to think about who we are and what is our place in the world.  It shows us that we are not alone, and there are numerous other living things that share the planet with us.  The scenery is majestic and some of the scenes that are captured on the camera are spellbinding.

This is a CD collection I would suggest for everyone to watch at least once. Its content and artistry makes great viewing and educational background for children and adults alike.  This would also be great as a supplement to a child’s education.
