Stephanie decides to start her own band and Michelle buys a pet donkey with the money she earns from running her own lemonade stand.  Danny decides to quit his job when he’s passed up for a promotion while Joey acts as substitute teacher in Michelle’s class and Jesse forms a new band and goes on tour. An ideal holiday gift for children of all ages, the collection will feature 192 half–hour episodes on 32 DVDs for a total of 5000 minutes of delightful content.

“The success we’ve experienced with the release of Full House on DVD far surpassed our expectations.  It’s truly remarkable to see how hugely popular this 20-year-old television show is with young kids today.  Thanks to its current run in syndication, a whole new generation of fans has embraced this program,” said Rosemary Markson, WHV Vice President, TV Marketing.  She added, “With the holiday season approaching,  we thought this was the right time to package all seasons of Full House in one beautiful, collectible gift set. We take great pleasure in bringing consumers this attractive complete series collection.”

Set in San Francisco, Full House chronicles the adventures of the Tanner family, an unconventional family headed by Danny Tanner (Bob Saget), a doting, widowed father who’s left to raise his three daughters.  With his brother-in-law, the wanna-be rock star “Uncle Jesse” Katsopolis (John Stamos), and his best friend, the stand-up comic Joey Gladstone (Dave Coulier), by his side, Danny learns all about parenting three young girls including eldest daughter D.J. (Candace Cameron), Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and the baby of the family Michelle (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen).  The eighth season of the show also stars Lori Laughlin as Rebecca, Jesse’s wife.  Blake and Dylan Tuomy-Wilhoit portray Nicky and Alex, Jesse and Rebecca’s twin boys.  The show originally debuted on ABC on September 22, 1987, its final episode aired May 23, 1995.

One of  Warner Home Video’s strongest selling classic TV on DVD titles, Full House has successfully found a new audience in syndication with nightly airings on Nick at Nite and ABC Family, spawning a whole new generation of fans.  It continues to rank in the top 5 for girls ages 8-15 and in the top 10 for boys ages 8-11.

Review of Full House Season 8 on DVD

I do not know what to say that I have not said in any of my other reviews of the previous seasons.  I cannot believe that the final season has finally been released and now the time to write the final Full House review has come to pass.  Well, over eight seasons we have seen all of the girls grow up from little girls to young women in the case of D.J. and Stephanie and from a baby into a young girl such as michelle.  We even got to see the first few years of the Nick and Alex growing up as well.  Not only have the "kids" grown up, but so have the adults as well.  "Uncle" Jesse, who started out as this long haired wild child became a responsible parent and sometimes even became an authority figure to the kids, however, that only came after a lot of learning and on the job experience in raising five children in the household.  The child in the man's body named Joey also grew up, and even though the character was still goofy to the end, the child within did not veer its head as much. Then there is Danny, the "responsible one" and although he may not have grown up in the same sense as his two best freinds, he did learn a lot as time went on, where he just may not have known everything -- especially when it comes to raising children.  Then there was Rebecca, Jesse's wife, who also did not need to mature, but did grow from an outsider into becoming one of the family.

The episodes on the DVD are as high a quality as the other seven, and even in the eight season, the writing was still fairly strong with good stories and interesting side-plots.  The writers also had new material to work with in that a character, D.J., was now old enought to leave the nest and truly go out on their own. It was sad to watch the final episode, but now that I have the set, I can watch the whole series over again (okay, maybe not right away, but someday).  My only real criticism is that the DVD does not include any bonus features.  It would have been interesting to see some behind the scenes footage, or at least interviews with the original cast now that it is years after the show has ended.  But, maybe they are waiting to include that stuff in a full series box set?  However, the show and DVDs are a great addition to your library, especially if you have kids that you can watch them with an re-experience the joys of growing up with the Tanners.
