Healing is teamwork and science. Instant decisions and best guesses. Joy one moment, tragedy the next, 24/7 readiness. It is learning, always learning. County General is a teaching hospital. And each day it presents its weary students and dedicated doctors with an unexpected instructor called experience. The ambulances are ready to unload more compulsively watchable tales of drama and triumph. Carter and Kovac return from Africa: one with a new love and both lucky to be alive. Romano, at the ER, is not so lucky. Med student Neela Rasgotra arrives from India by way of London. Med student Abby Lockhart arrives by way of the ER nurses station. Do they have what it takes? Old Man Experience awaits them.

Our Review of ER Season 10

I was never a huge follower of the series. It was one of those shows that I would watch if nothing else was on -- kind of like an old standby for evening TV. Although I had always enjoyed the episodes, however, the timing for it never worked out - there was always something going on on the day/time it was on, so I never got into the habit of watching it religiously. Although there are scores of people that have watched every episode of this show for fifteen years (I know, I cannot believe it has been on for so long either).

This series has become a staple for TV dramas. For those who have never seen the series, and although you probably could guess, most of the action takes place in the confines of a hospital and revolves around the staff of the hospital (or their bedrooms). However, sometimes the series does takes twists and turns and pulls you into the individual lives of some of its staff. This was distinctly shown in the tenth season, in which the audience is taken half-way around the world and placed into the conflicts within Congo (Africa). Without going into much detail (you have to see the episodes for yourself), one of the doctors flies to the Congo to obtain and return his friend's body from within the war-torn country. The episode not only goes into his own personal inner-conflicts with life, work and relationships, but also shows viewers the strife and struggle that the people of the Congo are experiencing every day from attacks by rebel groups, having their villages' burning down and disease to name a few. Although this was an extraordinary episode for a TV drama series, it also brought some recognition to the horrors that are occurring to a small nation that most of us know little about.

Over the years the regular viewers have been able to watch and become familiar with the characters. There are many "inside" jokes and going-ons that might not capture your attention, however, there are many new elements that are compounded upon each character from episode to episode. In some ways it could be seen as character building, but to the minute detail. The characters/staff of the hospital each have their own personalities and as a viewer it becomes apparent as to how each might react to various circumstances. I guess, because the series has been on for so long, the writers have time to delve into each of the characters on a more personal level and show the viewers their lives through a magnified glass.

This was, and still is an excellent series, and the tenth season may have been one of its best.
