2006—BBC Video introduces David Tennant as the tenth Doctor in Doctor Who:
The Complete Second Series. Following the
phenomenal success of the first series on both the SCI FI Channel and on DVD,
the second series is full of brand new edge-of-your-seat adventures, new laughs,
new heartbreaks, and terrifying new monsters.
Loaded with over four hours of exciting bonus features, this long-awaited
DVD set will be available at retail on January 16, 2007 for $99.98 (SRP). The
prebook date is December 12, 2006.
Written by
Russell T Davies (Queer as Folk),
Steven Moffat (The Original UK Coupling) and Mark Gatiss
(The League of Gentlemen), this fresh reimagination of Doctor
Who has conquered fans and critics on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
Entertainment Weekly praised the series for making a,“triumphant
return to the United States” and The New York Post called it a “terrific
reboot.” During its airing in the spring of 2006, Doctor Who
averaged a weekly audience of 1.5 million viewers and was the number one series

ABOUT DOCTOR WHO
Originally aired on the BBC from 1963-1989, Doctor Who is the
longest running sci-fi program in the history of the known universe as well as
one of the top-5 selling BBC Video brands of all time. The first series of the
new Doctor Who is BBC Video's best selling Doctor Who release of all time in the
US. To date, BBC Video has sold two million Doctor Who titles, including both
the new and classic series. In total, BBC Television produced 159 Doctor Who
stories. In the 1980s, the series aired on over 400 PBS stations, developing a
rock-solid fan base in the United States. Created by Russell T Davies, this
slick reimagination of Doctor Who puts a fresh spin on the
unimaginable adventures of the iconic Time Lord and Rose -- his beautiful, yet
feisty companion -- who travel across the universe to protect Earth from
dangerous aliens and horrifying monsters. While airing in the UK in March 2005,
the series was such a smash hit that even the Queen ordered a box set of the
DVD.
At the end of
Series One, Rose and the Doctor defeat the Daleks and save Earth. But at a high
price. The Doctor Rose grew to love has gone. Can she trust a man with a new
face? Together the Doctor and Rose travel back further still to 18th
Century France, where lethal Clockwork Androids stalk Versailles. In the future,
an evil race of Cat Nurses hide a sinister secret at the heart of their hospital
– and the human race is threatened by a remorseless silver army of emotionless
Cybermen.
