ABOUT DOCTOR WHO

Originally aired on the BBC from 1963-1989, Doctor Who is the longest running sci-fi program in the history of the known universe as well as one of the top-5 selling BBC Video brands of all time.  The first series of the new Doctor Who is BBC Video's best selling Doctor Who release of all time in the US.  To date, BBC Video has sold two million Doctor Who titles, including both the new and classic series.  In total, BBC Television produced 159 Doctor Who stories. In the 1980s, the series aired on over 400 PBS stations, developing a rock-solid fan base in the United States. Created by Russell T Davies, this slick reimagination of Doctor Who puts a fresh spin on the unimaginable adventures of the iconic Time Lord and Rose -- his beautiful, yet feisty companion -- who travel across the universe to protect Earth from dangerous aliens and horrifying monsters. While airing in the UK in March 2005, the series was such a smash hit that even the Queen ordered a box set of the DVD.

Doctor Who: The Complete Second Series Synopsis:

At the end of Series One, Rose and the Doctor defeat the Daleks and save Earth. But at a high price. The Doctor Rose grew to love has gone. Can she trust a man with a new face? Together the Doctor and Rose travel back further still to 18th Century France, where lethal Clockwork Androids stalk Versailles. In the future, an evil race of Cat Nurses hide a sinister secret at the heart of their hospital – and the human race is threatened by a remorseless silver army of emotionless Cybermen.

Episode Guide

The Christmas Invasion

Jackie Tyler is at home preparing for the festive season, when she hears the familiar sound of the TARDIS. Mickey, who is hard at work, also hears it. They both race across the estate, just in time to witness its glorious, chaotic crash-landing. The doors open and, much to their delight, out steps Rose – and a complete stranger.

Except it isn’t a stranger; it’s the Doctor, and the process of his latest incarnation is not yet quite complete. After wishing them Merry Christmas, he collapses and, with Rose and Jackie powerless to help him, drifts in and out of consciousness. To boost Rose’s spirits, Mickey suggests a spot of Christmas shopping, not expecting to come under attack by a sinister brass band of masked Santas. They are not the only ones with problems. Prime Minister Harriet Jones has just been informed that a British space probe, on its way to Mars for a Christmas Day landing, has gone missing. It has been kidnapped by a monstrous race known as the Sycorax, who are set on taking over the world. Will the Doctor wake up in time?

New Earth

The Doctor and Rose board the TARDIS for new adventures in time and space. But when they visit mankind’s new home, far in the future, they find gruesome secrets hidden inside a luxury hospital. And an enemy thought long since dead, the paper-thin Cassandra, is out for revenge…

Tooth and Claw

The Doctor and Rose have to protect Queen Victoria, but can anything stop the Empire of the Wolf?

School Reunion

The Doctor investigates a contemporary London school which is being haunted by strange, bat-like creatures at night. While at the school, the Doctor finds his old friend, Sarah Jane Smith, already working undercover. Both have old scores they must settle, and Rose discovers the true legacy of being a Time Lord’s companion.

The Girl In The Fireplace

The Doctor finds love – and evil droids – in 18th century France. Madame de Pompadour is being haunted by a stranger called the Doctor: Can he save her from the clockwork killers?

Rise Of The Cybermen (Part 1 of a two-part story)

The TARDIS is trapped on a parallel Earth and Rose discovers that her father is still alive. But sinister forces are at work and British society is being prepared for the Ultimate Upgrade. Meanwhile, an old enemy of the Doctor is about to be reborn…

The Age of Steel (Part 2 of a two-part story)

The Cybermen take control of London and start converting the populace. While Jackie falls under Lumic’s control, the Doctor, Rose and Mickey are reduced to fugitives in a world of terror. A last, desperate attack on the Cyberfactory is their only chance – but will they all survive?

The Idiot’s Lantern

It is 1953, the Coronation year of HM Queen Elizabeth II, and the people of Great Britain huddle round their televisions and radios to witness the great event. But behind the celebrations there are rumors of monsters on the streets, and the tormented Mr. Magpie is hiding a strange and alien secret…

The Impossible Planet (Part 1 of a two-part story)

Rose finds herself further away from home than ever before, in the orbit of a Black Hole. Trapped with an Earth expedition and the mysterious Ood, the time-travellers face an even greater danger as something ancient beneath the planet’s surface begins to awake.

The Satan Pit (Part 2 of a two-part story)

Rose battles the murderous Ood and the Doctor finds his every belief challenged to the core, as the Pit beckons. With the planet threatening to fall into the Black Hole, the Doctor must make the ultimate sacrifice – but can he save the entire universe from the Beast?

Love and Monsters

An ordinary man called Elton becomes obsessed with the Doctor and Rose and their mysterious blue box. But when Elton’s investigations bring him to the attention of the enigmatic, cold and powerful Victor Kennedy, his harmless hobby suddenly plunges him into a living nightmare.

Fear Her

When the TARDIS lands in 2012, the Doctor plans to show Rose the London Olympics. But on a nearby housing estate, a desperate mother is hiding her daughter’s unearthly powers. Can the Doctor defeat the danger nesting at the heart of an ordinary British household?

Army of Ghosts

The human race rejoices as the ghosts of loved ones return home in the latest adventure from the nation’s favorite time traveller. But as the Doctor, Rose and Jackie investigate the Torchwood Tower, the whole of modern-day Earth threatens to fall to an almighty invasion force.

Doomsday

It’s the end of an epic journey as two mighty armies wage war across the Earth with the human race caught in the middle. But as an unstoppable terror emerges from beneath Torchwood, the Doctor faces an even greater dilemma – does saving the world mean the death of Rose Tyler?
