How did bands like Halifax, Hellogoodbye, Yellowcard, Taking Back Sunday and Hawthorne Heights get their big break? By taking part in MTV2's Dew Circuit Breakout, that's how! This year’s contest is starting to wind down, with the top 12 bands being now cut down to 6. Here are the 6 bands that were chosen to have MTV crews visit their hometown and film the band in action:

 

After The Tragedy

All Time Low

From: Towson, MD

Sounds Like: New Found Glory

 

The Material

From: San Diego, CA

Sounds Like: Paramore, Jimmy Eat World

 

The Myriad

From: Seattle, WA

Sounds Like: Catherine Wheel, Radiohead

 

The Smyrk

From: New Haven, CT

Sounds Like: Incubus, Foo Fighters

 

Them Terribles

From: Santa Barbara, CA

Sounds Like: The Hives, The Strokes

 

From these 6 bands, three finalists will be chosen to be flown to New York City to person during the Dew Circuit Breakout Finale live from Times Square, where the winner will be announced. The winning band will then perform again and have the performance filmed as their very first MTV music video.

 

As you can tell, this isn't your ordinary, everyday battle-of-the-bands competition. Dew Circuit Breakout has a proven track record of finding the next big thing and giving them their first (big) taste of success.
