Interview With Lesley Roy

My early influences are still my heroes today, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, Blondie, Melissa Etheridge.

Living in Ireland hasn't impacted on my music. I feel that no matter where in the world I was brought up I would have loved music.

Yes I’m gone I’m going is based on leaving all my family and friends at home and taking a risk at making it in this industry.

It differs every time, sometimes I write the lyrics alone in my room and then follow up in the studio or sometime I come up with the music first.

My favourite song on the album is "Thinking Out Loud" because lyrically I feel I really expressed that inner conflict that people suffer with everyday and also I really enjoy singing it live.

I would love to sing a duet with Bono, aside from being the singer from one of the best rock bands all time and that he comes from my home [sic] town he is an amazing person who has great morals and is spiritual and I would love to see what lyrics we could write together.

A perfect day to me would be to get up around 9 with the sun shining in the window, head to the studio and work on some new material, go hang out with my friends somewhere and chill (maybe close to a beach) then go to a show and perform for some people at night with my band and rock out for a few hours!

In the ten years from now I would like to still be performing hopefully to a big audience, still working on recording material and having a nice place of my own to go home to when I’m not on the road.

My music has a different sound to it because I have a heavy raspy vocal with deep lyrics that a lot of other female vocalist don’t have right now.
