Iwao Takamoto, Scooby Doo Creator and Original Animator DiesTuesday, January 9, 2006 Three weeks after Joseph Barbera (one half of Hanna-Barbera) passed away, another animation legend passes away - Iwoa Takamota. Takamota was the animator who designed the lovable characters in Scooby Doo. He first started his career at Walt Disney where he worked as an animator on films such as Lady and the Tramp, Cinderella and Peter Pan. In 1961, he began working for Hanna-Barbera, and besides his work on Scooby Doo, he also worked on classics such as The Flintstones and The Jetsons. Iwao Takamota was 81 and passed away from cardiac failure at a hospital in Los Angeles. {Reported by Ian Ripley} Celebrity News Resources:
