Baron Cohen Invited to Visit Kazakhstan
Friday, October 20, 2006
Sacha Baron Cohen caused international outrage, especially from Kazakhstanthe, a former Soviet republic when he showed his new film, Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, at the Toronto Int’l Film Festival. In the film, Cohen plays the role of a fictitious news reporter from that country, poking fun of the country and its people along the way. If controversy was what he wanted, he got it and all of the press coverage that has gone along with it. The insulted country made a public statement against Cohen and the movie last month, however, its foreign minister, Rakhat Aliyev made a public invitation to Cohen so that he can see what the country is really like. {Reported by Ian Ripley}
