Steve Irwin, The Crocodile Hunter, Killed by Stingray
September 4, 2006
Zoologist, environmentalist, TV personality, husband and father Steve Irwin passed away yesterday after a freak accident with a stingray. During the shooting of a scene, Irwin was swimming above a stingray in his native Australia and without notice was “stung” through the heart by its barb. He was able to pull the barb out from his chest, but died only moments later. He became famous for his world-wide television show “Crocodile Hunter” and a collateral movie “The Crocodile Hunters: Collision Course.” He was an entertainer who loved nature and all its inhabitants and would very often come very close to the most dangerous of creatures such as live alligators and poisonous snakes. Fatalities from stingrays are very rare. Steve Irwin leaves behind a wife Terri, a daughter Bindi Sue (8) and son Bob (2).
The world and all its inhabitants mourn the loss of an extraordinary human being.
