The Veronicas Interview

Who was your strongest musical influence growing up?

     We listened to lots of music when we were young but mostly Michael Jackson.
 
Who are your biggest musical influences today?

     We get inspiration from many different music styles. We go to shows to see upcoming new bands and check out established ones as well. We love the new electro pop vibe that's around at the moment.
 
Since you were both born on Christmas, since you already get presents, do you get extra for your birthdays?

     Yes we have always been spoilt on birthdays and Christmas. Our parents always treat it as a separate event.
 
If you could perform one song as a trio with any singer from today or from the past, who would you choose and what song?

     KD Lang on a new song written by the three of us.
 
Is it different performing to audiences in one part of the world as opposed to another? If so, how?

     Not really, if the fans are there for you they usually all know the words and sing along and dance, music is the universal language right?
 
What was the hardest part about recording an album?

     We don't find it that hard at all. It's a very creative time and hearing your songs come alive on a CD is very rewarding and hearing the finished product is very exciting.
 
What is the best part about recording an album?

     Singing your own songs then hearing back the finished product after it's all been mixed and put together is the best thing ever for us as artists.
 
What is your favorite song of all time?  

     Lisa: Billy Jean. Jess: Dirty Dianna.
 
Do your lyrics come before the music or does the music come before the lyrics?

     It depends on the song and the direction. Sometimes we have great lyrics that we have beforehand, then other times we have a great track and write the lyrics for the track. It's a creative journey for us so there are no set rules.
 
We all know that the name of your band came from the Archie comics -- but which one of you came up with the name and who is the bigger Archie fan?

     We both were big fans of the comic growing up and we both wanted to be Veronica. When we were thinking of a name that was it. It was the perfect name for us.
 
What is next for The Veronicas?

     We are about to start a U.S. tour with Natasha Bedingfield. We are very excited and can't wait to get out there and tour again. We love touring and performing live with our band and rocking out to all the fans, especially all the new songs. Hope to see you all at a show soon.
