“The
Free Encyclopedia.”
Nicola Maria Roberts
(born October 5, 1985 in Stamford, Lincolnshire), is an English pop star from
Runcorn and is the youngest member of Girls Aloud. Also known as 'Cola', Nicola
started singing at the young age of eleven. Frequently singing at her relatives
parties she would win awards and was spurred on by a local mobile DJ.
Her group was formed
after auditioning for a UK TV show "Popstars". Anaemia sufferer Nicola was
originally eliminated before the final stage, but was brought back into the
final ten after Nicola Ward pulled out of the show after objecting to the show's
contract. She became the second girl to join Girls Aloud. Since then Nicola has
co-written two of the group's album tracks.
Nicola debuted in FHM's
one hundred Sexiest Women list in 2005, charting at #77, ahead of the likes of
Jennifer Aniston, Dannii Minogue and Hilary Duff. She also appeared at number 15
in FHM's 20 Sexiest Singers 2005 just behind her fellow band members with Cheryl
Tweedy taking number 1. Nicola was #84 in the 2006 poll, however she was also
voted 4th ugliest celebrity by Kerrang Radio listeners in 2006.[1]
Roberts is currently
single, after splitting with long-term boyfriend Carl Egerton in December
2006.[2]
