JOJO BIOGRAPHY

Joanna Noelle Levesque,
aka JoJo was born on December 20, 1990 in
Foxborough, Massachusetts (outside of Boston) to
XXX (blues singer) and Diana (singer in church
choir) Levesque (divorced in 1994). JoJo
grew up mostly with her mother, but due to the
musical influence of both parents, she began to
sing at an early age.

In 1997, at the age of 6,
she appeared on Bill Cosby's Kids Say the
Darndest Things and impressed him and the
audience when she sang the song "Respect." Other
people around the industry were impressed as
well and she soon found herself singing on the
Oprah Winfrey Show, the Rosie O'Donnel
Show, at ballgames and even the Republican
National Convention.

In 2002 she was a
contestant on TV's America's Most Talented
Kids, however, she did not win the
competition. However, the exposure allowed
producer Vincent Herbert to take notice and she
signed an album contract with Blackground
Records.

Her first self-titled
album, JoJo, was released in 2004 and
became an instant hit, with the singe Leave
(Get Out) making it to number one on
Billboard's top 40 chart (the youngest
person to ever do so). She followed the
album with a European tour as the opening act
for Usher.

JoJo's movie
Aquamarine was released in early 2006
co-starring
Emma Roberts and
Sara Paxton
- and she was nominated
for a Young Artist Award for supporting actress
in her role (it was won by Roberts), and also
nominated for a Teen Choice Award for Choice
Breakout Female.

She
released her second album, The High Road, in
2006. It debuted at number 3 on the Billboard
200 chart - and has sold over 2 million albums
worldwide.

The
Boston Music Award for National Female Vocalist
of the Year was awarded to her in 2007.

In
September 2010, she released a mixtape, Can't
Take It Away.

Her
third album, Jumping Trains, is scheduled
to be released in April 2012, after a number of
complications with her record label, although a
number of the tracks have been leaked over the
past few years. She officially released
the first single off the album, "Disaster," but
it only reached as high as #67 on Billboard's
Hot 100, and it did reach #38 on Billboard's Pop
Songs chart in January of 2012.
