Plot of High School Musical: Remix

“High
School Musical” follows Troy, a popular high school basketball star,
and Gabriella, a shy, academically gifted newcomer, who both discover
they share a secret passion for singing. When they audition for the
lead roles in the school musical, it threatens East High’s rigid social
order and sends their peers into an uproar. In a desperate effort to
maintain the status quo, the “jocks,” the “brainiacs” and even the drama
club regulars hatch plots to separate the pair and keep them offstage.
By defying expectations and taking a chance on their dreams, Troy and
Gabriella inspire other students to go public with some surprising
hidden talents of their own. Starring are Zac Efron, Vanessa Anne
Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale (Disney Channel’s “The Suite Life of Zack &
Cody”), Corbin Bleu, Lucas Grabeel (Disney Channel Original Movie
“Halloweentown High”), Monique Coleman, Bart Johnson, Oleysa Rulin and
Alyson Reed. |
Review of High School Musical: Remix
|

High
School musical has been one of the super successes coming out of Disney
Channel. The made-for-TV movie became an overnight phenomenon. The
marketing power behind the HSM (High School Musical) franchise is beyond
belief. Luckily, this is Disney, and they know how to do it right.
They have been able to harness the energy of the original production and
continue to benefit from its success, including two subsequent movies
based on the same core characters. The movies were well written,
well choreographed, and well produced -- which is something that has
been missing from the few musicals geared towards teens and tweens. Even
from an adult point of view, the movie was pretty good. Although,
I do not think I can sit though it several dozen times as I know some
tweens do.
This Blu-Ray,
the High School Musical Remix, is a continuation of their
marketting prowess. Although we have seen the movie on TV and on
DVD, they have now produced yet another must have item -- the movie on
Blu-Ray with better quality audio & video, plus a few more bonus
features (and I love the bonus stuff). The plot of the movie is
provided above, and that obviously does not change. However, the
picture is much clearer as is the sound. I actually put on the DVD
subsequent to watching this, and you can truly see and hear the
difference. Blu-Ray just makes things look so much better.
As for the
bonus features, I will just list them all here:
-
A cool
making of featurette called "Bringing It All Together" with some
cool facts and info.
-
A
segment where you can "learn the moves" to the song "Bop To The Top"
-
Listen
to the cast members talk about themselves and the movie in "A High
School Reunion"
-
Watch
the cast and other stars attend the DVD premier at El Capitan (Miley
Cyrus did attend this)
-
There
are a few dance-along and sing-along videos
-
A
number of additional music videos
Overall,
this is a very good DVD that will be enjoyed by almost any tween or
young teen. |
