Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle

Plot of Harold and Kumara Go To White Castle (may include spoilers)

Two friends go on an adventure that leads them into hilarious situations.

Review of Harold and Kumara Go To White Castle

Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle Poster            John Cho (Harold Lee) and Kal Penn (Kumar Patel) highlight the cast of this hilarious comedy that features non-stop laughs and unique plot twists. Harold, an uptight investment banker and Kumar a rebellious medical student are long time friends and roommates, who share an interest in marijuana and mischief. After a long week of work, Harold and Kumar sit down to a joint smoke session when they both have an epiphany. They witness a delectable White Castle commercial that literally makes them foam at the mouth. This commercial pushes them to an amazing journey to find the “perfect meal” and fulfill their munchies. Along their wild expedition they have multiple run-ins with the police, constantly try to find more marijuana to maintain their high, run into Neil Patrick Harris who eventually steals their car, and also witness two British chicks playing “battle shits” in the bathroom. All the while, Harold grapples with his inability to talk with Maria (Paula Garces) his Latin love interest, and Kumar struggles with his inability to find a real job.

Meanwhile, Harold and Kumar still have the unbearable munchies and have yet to find a White Castle. However, the two finally see the promise land but must face one last obstacle to reach their ultimate goal. They must hang-glide off a monstrous cliff to save themselves from the police and reach their destiny. Having no other options, Harold and Kumar strap themselves in to the hang-glider and take their leap of faith. Soaring through the air like an eagle stalking its prey, the two land safely at the fast food joint. The movie culminates in an all out gorge session, with Harold and Kumar stuffing their faces until they can barely sit up straight. Afterwards, the two reflect on their journey and oddly realize they have actually matured throughout the entire ordeal. Harold eventually talks to Maria and Kumar goes in for a prestigious job interview.

Overall, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle is an exceptional comedy. With superb directing by Danny Leiner, jokes that touch on issues such as race and stereotypes, and hilarious cameos by Neil Patrick Harris and Jamie Kennedy, this movie should be in the DVD collection of every movie lover.

Harold and Kumara Go To White Castle Trivia

  •  The book and script originally called for a girl to play the part of Mitch and the character's name was supposed to be Michelle.  However, because the producer did not want to have to deal with any upper nudity issues, he thought it best to change the sex of the character.

  •  Timothy O'Leary and Arthur Pendragon turned down the part of Mitch before it was offered to John Doe.
