Our Review of the Forbidden Hollywood DVD Collection

This collection includes three movies that were banned by the censors due to their illicit scenes and content matter. No, these are not pornographic movies. However, they dealt with some taboo subject matter for the early 1930s. The three movies, Red Headed Woman, Waterloo Bridge and the most notorious of the three, Baby Face, were all banned when the movie Production Code went into effect. Because of things that are commonplace in any of today's movies including adultery, nudity and prostitution, these movies were essentially banned.

The historical notoriety of these movies is not the only reasons to watch these movies, but the movies are also very good in both writing and acting. Baby Face, starring celluloid vixen Barbara Stanwick, is exceptionally good. This collection not only includes the original version shown in 1933, but includes an "extended" version with additional scenes that were deleted at the request of of studio censors and supposedly lost for over seventy years.

These movies are examples of how movies were made and allows you to take a look at the people and attitudes of the times. The movie also includes an introduction by film historian Robert Osborne and the theatrical trailer of Baby Face.
