When mischievous teenaged
cousins Bo Duke (Jonathan Bennett, Mean Girls) and Luke Duke (Randy
Wayne, ABC's Sons and Daughters) are arrested, both boys are paroled to
the care of their Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson) in Hazzard, sentenced to a
summer of hard work. It's not long before the Duke boys learn of Boss
Hogg's (Chris McDonald) plans to foreclose on Uncle Jesse's farm.
Together, with help from their frumpy cousin Daisy (April Scott), Bo and
Luke vow to save the family's property and its storied history of
producing the best moonshine in all of Hazzard. Driving through Hazzard
in the "General Lee" blasting its famed Dixie horn, the Duke boys join
forces to make Boss Hogg's life miserable, concocting one crazy scheme
after another.
Review of
Movie
Many of us remember the
original TV series. The legend of Bo and Luke Duke were made in
the General Lee and the word "Daisy Dukes" became both a word and a
fashion trend. We also remember the remake movie starring the
bodacious Jessica Simpson (great
to look at, but needs some help with the acting). Well, in the
same vein as those movies, this movie shows the beginnings of this
daring duo and their adventures.
A little campy at times, it
does hold fairly true to the style of the original movie, including
narrations and much action. Of course, this movie is rated R and a
bit of T&A is also part of the cinematic scenery. However, these
young actors do justice to their legendary counterparts. April
Scott plays a fine looking Daisy and Willie Nelson makes an okay Uncle
Jesse (and even sings in the movie). The story line is not very
complicated, but just enough to make a good episode of the good ole'
show. As I stated earlier, the action (i.e., car chases) are just
as good as the old show. This is a good fun movie and its got a
lot of sexy scenes for the teenage crowd as well.
