Adriana started modeling at the age of
thirteen. Then in 1996, the beautiful teen entered a contest by the
Ford Modeling company who was conducting a worldwide search for
young models. Even though she was just 16, she came in second
place. She moved to New York City and signed with Elite Model
Management. She was soon appearing in such glamour magazines as
Vogue and Marie Claire.
In 2000, she hit supermodel status when
she became a Victoria Secrets Angel in 2000. She was soon amazing
fans with her grace and beauty around the world on a grand scale.
In 2001 she had an appearance in the
movie The Hire: Follow. In 2002 she had a short engagement to
singer Lenny Kravitz.
She is know for her ads for Victoria
Secrets, but has also be seen in advertisements for Mabeline
(spokeswoman from 2003 to 2009),
Guess?, XOXO, BCBG, Keds, Mossimo, bebe, Anna Sui and Gasoline to
name only a few.
In 2006, she told GQ
magazine that she was a virgin and sex should be saved for marriage.
By 2007, Lima was the
world's fourth highest paid model according to Forbes magazine (and
matched that feat in 2008). In 2008 she wore the Victoria Secret's
Fantasy Bra valued at over 5 million dollars.
In 2008 she appeared in
an episode of How I Met Your Mother and in 2008 she appeared
on an episode of Ugly Betty.
Lima married Serbian
basketball star Marco Jaric on Valentines Day in 2009 (in Jackon
Hole, Wyoming). On November 15, 2009, she gave birth to a daughter
named Valentina.
In June 2010, only a
few months after giving birth, Andriana Lima posed topless on the
cover of the V Spain magazine.
