•  Anna Nicole Smith was born Vicki Lynn Hogan on November 28, 1967 in Mexia, Texas (outside of Houston). Her father ran off when she was a child and was raised by her mother and grandmother.

•  In 1984 she was married to Billy Smith and had a child, Daniel Smith.  However, like her father, her husband also left her and she was left to raise a young child by herself.  In order to support herself and her child she began to dance topless in a local strip club.  At the club she was discovered by a photographer, and she began to pose nude for magazines to make a few extra bucks.

•  In 1990 she had breast enlargement surgery to add to her sex appeal.  This allowed her to win the Playboy cover contest and appear on its cover.

•  In 1993 she was crowned Playboy Playmate of the year and began to model for Guess?  This was the year she broke into movies with the role of Tanya Peters in Naked Gun 33 1/3.

•  In 1994, she married her again to 85 year old millionaire J. Howard Marshall II.  Because of the age difference, and the bitter estate battle with his heirs after his death the following year, she was thrust into the spotlight of the media. (She eventually received over 400 million dollars).

•  She tried to do some acting over the next few years, then produced a reality show based on her own life. The show lasted from 2002-2004, showing an overweight rich woman making a fool of herself each week on public TV.

•  She made headlines again in 2005 by loosing most of her weight as the spokeswoman for TrimSpa.

• In 2006 she gave birth to her second child, with her attorney Howard K. Stern - a daughter named Dannie Lynn Hope - in September, but only three days later, her first child (Daniel) unexpectedly died.  Autopsies performed did not find a cause to her son's mysterious death.  In order to pay for funeral expenses, Smith sold pictures she took of her son the evening before he died for a reported sum between $400,000 - $600,000. To date, the autopsies have not provided any clues into his death.

  • The child has three men claiming to be the father: (1) Anna Nicole's attorney Howard K. Stern, (2) Reporter and photographer Larry Birkhead and around the time of Nicole's death, a third person claimed paternity (3) the husband of actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, Prince Frederick von Anhalt.

• In January 2007, her lawyers from the Bahamas that took care of her deceased sons affairs sued her for non-payment.

• On Thursday, February 8th, 2007 Anna Nicole Smith collapsed in her hotel room -- an hour later, she was pronounced dead.  No illegal drugs or explanations of death were found during the autopsy, and the police are still investigating her death. The cause of death was not determined.  After her death, her mother Virgie Arthur fought with the Smith's estate for both the custody of the child and possession of the body.  In the end the judge ruled that the body should be buried in the Bahamas next to the grave of her son.  The funeral was held on Friday, March 2, 2007 and was attended by close friends and family, including those in the legal battle with Smith's estate.

• It was not until March 26, 2007, that the coroner released the results of the autopsy.  He said that the death was caused by a mixture of all the different prescription medications she was taking at the time.

• On April 10, 2007, the results for the paternity DNA test were announced and former boyfriend Larry Birkhead is the father of Danielynn.  However, the legal battle over her late husband's estate still continues by the heirs of her estate.
