Although William Tell has not been around that long and only has a little bit of experience with the band Something Corporate, this is one of the most mature debut albums I have heard in a long time.  I cannot give my standard line such as "I cannot wait until he matures," because his music and lyrics are just that - mature.  As a songwriter, he excels in both mood and expression. You only need to listen to "Maybe Tonight" or "Slipping Under" to understand what I mean.  The music and lyrics come together on this album to form an almost perfect mesh - sort of like a Simon and Garfunkel harmony.

The tracks maintain a fairly even tempo, slightly fast paced, but at the same time relaxed.  You can both kick off your shoes to listen to this album, or crank it out loud while driving in the car.  Classic alternative followers may be disappointed at his mellow temperament, but it is perfect for his lyrics.  Kudos also needs to go out to the session players, especially in songs such as "Sounds" and "Young At Heart." The later song, happens to be my favorite song off the album and I have found myself singing the song during the day after the first time listening to the album.  The title track, "You Can Hold Me Down" also has a good sound and is a solid song to close out a very solid album -- for a debut or even a veteran musician.  He will be around my area in April (go to his MySpace page for tour info) and I hope to see him live.
