Review of Utopia

When you have artist like Ricky Martin, Shakira, Thalia, Paulina Rubio dominating the latin pop music scene, any upcoming artist needs to make sure, they are going to be able to take a piece of the spotlight and Belinda surely has been able to do that with her new album.

After a 3 year hiatus, Belinda has dropped her sophomore album “Utopia.”   The album is a mixture of pop, rock and slow ballads, so it has a little bit of everything to satisfy all musical taste.  Her first single “Ni Freud Ni Tu Mama” can be seen as the new break up anthem, basically stating he wasn’t mature enough to be with her, she is over it, tired of excuses and it’s time to move on.  What person hasn’t felt this way and can’t appreciate this song.  Belinda, sweet yet powerful voice is also truly showcased with her English and Spanish version of “See a Little Light/Luz sin Gravedad.” 

According to Belinda’s website, she is working on her English version of “Utopia,” if the English version sounds as good as it sounds in Spanish, she is going to give all American pop princess a run for their money, just like Shakira has done. {Review by J.Cosme}
