Review of Nevermind
|
Nirvana burst on the rock scene in
1992. Kurt Cobain's distinct voice and the band's unique rock sound introduced
the nation to the sound of "grunge" with their second album "Nevermind." Though
the lyrics to this album are hard to understand, the power of Cobain's voice and
the strength of the music are
captivating.
This groundbreaking music set the precedent for much of the modern music today.
It broke the traditional mold of rock and showed the world a new style of music
known as "grunge" The music on "Nevermind" is simple, lots of grit on the guitar
mixed with angry lyrics. "I am worse at what I do best" "And for this gift I
feel blessed" Our little group has always been" And always will until the end",
is an example of Cobain's lyrics for the hit track "It Smells Like Teen Spirit"
Nirvana's "grunge" sound made the album totally different from what rock music
fans were used to and had a large part of the albums success. The bands physical
appearance was warn torn and tatter clothing instead of being the long hair
tight pants eighties look. The bands appearance included.
This album is worth every penny, for those who just want to rock out. It is
heavy with hard core guitar solos and screaming lyrics. You will listen to the
album from beginning to end. If you are ready to rock out, then this is the
album for you.
The most recognizable songs on this album are "Smells Like Teen Spirit". Other
songs that stand out include "In Bloom", "Lithium", and "Come as You Are". This
album is definitely 4 stars.
Nirvana's members are Kurt Cobain who was the
vocalist and guitarist, Krist Novoselic on the bass, and Dave Grohl is on the
drums.
