Ashley Tisdale is no stranger to the world of entertainment.  She is a co-star on Disney’s TV show Zack and Cody (starring the Sprouse Twins).  She also co-starred in the smash made-for-TV movie High School Musical.  Now this young star turns her talents to her music career in her debut album Headstrong.

 

The album shows an older, maybe even a more mature Ashley from what we usually see for her on screen persona.  The music is upbeat and the lyrics discuss themes fit more for a young woman than a teenager, such as in “Be Good To Me” and “Not Like That.” Most of the songs follow the same pop formula – a heavy dance beat, fast lyrics and good sound.  However, some of the songs do slow down and take on a different formula to show the talents of Ashley Tisdale, the songwriters and the producers.

 

For what its worth, I believe the cream of the songs are stuck in the last few tracks, beginning with “Don’t Touch” and continuing with “We’ll Be Together.”  The best dance track is the title song of “Headstrong” which allows for a wider range of vocals and shows superb producing of a pop song.

 

This is a well-done debut by one of today’s top young talents and definitely has a future in the business.  She needs to find what works best and go for it.  She signed with Warner Brothers for this record to try to break into the “older” music scene, but by doing so, she may lose her fan base, especially the lost airplay on Radio Disney.
