Review of Freedom

She looks like the girl next door, but the girl next door with the voice of a songbird.  Kristy Frank has released her debut album entitled Freedom. I like here style and her vocals are more mature than you would expect from a new young singer with lyrics written by various songwriters.  The songs on the album provide the taste of pop, especially the lead song “Lift-Off,” which was also very well produced.  Some of her songs also have a bit of a country-like twang as can be heard in “Unattached..” Then there are tracks, such as “Girl Like Me” that provides a driving pop-rock beat.   The title song, “Freedom” is not bad, but it seems to be missing something and I do not believe the song is right for her voice.

This young up-and-coming star shows a lot of range and versatility on the album, with is emphasized throughout the album and can be easily noticed on “Bittersweet 16,” which is a simple song with a good story.  My favorite song off the album was “Messed Up,” which I think has a really good sound.  For a change from most of the pop-artists of today, Kristy Frank’s album is definitely worth a listen.
