Victoria Justice was born on February
19, 1993 in Hollywood, Florida to Zack Justice and Serene (Justice)
Reed [divorced]. She has
a younger sister named Madison Reed (about three years younger).
Victoria is
of Puerto Rican (mom) and Irish (dad) decent.
-
At a very young age (8), she knew what
she wanted to do with her life: act and model, which she began to
do. After watching some kid on a TV commercial, she told her mom, “I
want to act” Her mom made some calls to find an agent and her career
had begun. [Fast fact: Victoria also likes to sing and would one day
like to record her own CD.] Her love of acting might have come from
her mother and grandmother who both did some acting.
-
She started to gain some success in her
commercial acting (her first one was for Ovaltine) and modeling, so
in 2003 her family moved to from one Hollywood (Florida) to
Hollywood, California to further grow in her career. Within three
weeks of arriving in California, she already had her first
television role, when she co-starred on an episode of the Gilmore
Girls playing the role of a Hobbit.
-
After a long summer in Hollywood, her
family returned back to Florida for the winter and following spring
so Victoria could continue with her schoolwork – which she scored
A’s.
-
In 2004 she began to make it big in the
kid’s modeling world by contracting for three of the industry’s
biggest campaigns: Guess, Gap and Ralph Lauren.
-
Victoria’s first big screen debut came
in 2004, in a supporting role in the indie movie Fallacy
starring Stephen Baldwin and Gary Busey, followed by a little larger
role the following year as the young Nikki in When Do We Eat?
about a Passover dinner gone out of control. In 2004, she appeared
in other small indie films, such, My Purple Fur Coat, and
Mary, where she received her first lead role and the film became
an Official 2005 Sundance Selection.
-
In 2005 she continued her schoolwork in
Los Angeles, after auditioning and being accepted into the renowned
Performing Arts Magnet school. While in school, she continued to do
commercials and even appeared in an episode of The Suite Life of
Zack and Cody where rumors were made that she dated on of the
Sprouse twins. He has also appeared in theater in productions of
Annie, Give My Regards to Broadway and Tribute
to Disney.
-
As her career began to grow, so did her
roles and in 2005 appeared as Holly in the horror movie, The
Garden and then a made for TV Christmas movie, Silver Bells.
She also filmed a psychological thriller entitled Unknown,
which will be released in 2006.
-
Victoria Justice’s big break came in
2005, when she was asked to join the cast of Nickelodeon’s popular
television show, Zoey 101 (as Lola Martinez) along side child star
Jamie Lynn Spears and the rest of a talented young cast [PS:
No, she is not dating co-star Matt Underwood, they are just good
friends and have know each other for years from the modeling circuit
back in Florida.] In 2006, she, along with the cast of Zoey 101, won
the Young Artist Award for Best Young Ensemble Performance in a TV
Series (Comedy or Drama) and the show was also nominated for an Emmy
Award.
-
Victoria starred in the Kings
of Appletown in 2009 and co-starred in Nickelodeon TV movie
Spectacular! (starring
Nolan Funk and
Tammin Sursok).
-
This young and talented actress was
given her own TV show in 2010 titled Victorious, about a girl
(Victoria Justice) that attends a school for performing arts. It's
premier episode was one of the most watched premiers in
Nickelodeon's history. Later in 2010, she starred in a made-for-TV
movie on Nickelodeon entitled Boy Who Cried Werewolf
-
In her spare time, when she has some,
she is working on a solo album, but wants it to be perfect, so she
is not going to rush it along, but we should see it being released
sometime in 2012. However, she can be heard on the Spectacular! and
Victorious soundtracks.
-
She has released a
number of singles. Her first, "Make It Shine," the theme song
from her TV show, had little success, as did her second single "A
Thousand Miles." She finally had mild success with her third
official release, "Freak the Freak Out" which debuted at #78 on
Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart.
