Kristen Stewart was
born on April 9, 1990 in Los Angeles, California. Her father, John
Stewart is a TV producer at FOX (e.g., "On-Air With Ryan Seacrest").
She has an older brother named Cameron.
As a young child her
family moved to Colorado, but subsequently moved back to L.A. a few
years later.
In 1990 she was only
nine when she received her first very short appearance in the TV
movie The Thirteenth Year. However, larger roles began to
come a few years later, such as in the 2001 movie The Safety of
Objects. It was the following year when audiences began to take
notice of her, when she played
Jodie Foster's daughter in the movie
Panic Room. For this role, she was nominated for the 2003
Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Feature Film - Leading
Young Actress.
She began to take on
more projects, such as TV commercials for Porche in 2002 and more
movie roles such as in Cold Creek Manor (for which she was
nominated for the 2004 Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a
Feature Film - Supporting Young Actress) [fast fact: Dennis Quaid
played her father in the movie and shares the same birthday as
Kristen] and Speak a made-for-TV drama movie, in which she
received notice for her outstanding performance. In 2004 she
finally starred in her own film, playing Maddy, in Catch That Kid.
Other movies have followed including Undertow (for which she
was nominated for her third Young Artist Award, this time for Best
Performance in a Feature Film - Supporting Young Actress, Fierce
People, Zathura and Southland Tales.
People started to take
notice of her acting and she was given kudos for her performance in
Into The Wild (2007). For this film she was nominated for
the Young Artist Award for the Best Performance in a Feature Film -
Supporting Young Actress, and also was given a nomination for the
Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a
Motion Picture.
Her "big break" came in
2008 when she was cast as Bella Swan in the move Twilight,
which was a mega-boxoffice hit. She reprised this role in New
Moon in 2009 and Eclipse in 2010 (with more movies as part of
the Twilight Saga in the making). This role has also garnered her
many awards (and nominations) such as the BAFTA Rising Star Award, a
number fo MTV awards, a People's choice award, etc. Although her
recent fame has come from her role as Bella, she also received a
nomination for the Gotham Award for being part of the Best Ensemble
Cast for the movie Adventureland (2009).
In May 2010, there was
big buzz caused by an apparent
bait and switch cover by OK magazine
which showed Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner telling
Oprah Winfrey
that she (Stewart) was pregnant. This, of course, turned out to be
false.
She has also been
involved in a number of other movie projects, including starring as
Joan Jett in the recently released movie The Runaways (there
is an on-screen kiss between her an Dakota Fanning) see

and as Mallory in Welcome to the Rileys - and there are other
movies in the works.
