Jodie Sweetin was born on January 19,
1982 in Los Angeles, California to Sam and Janice Sweetin.
In 1986, at the young age of only four,
Jodie began her acting career by appearing on a commercial selling
Oscar Myer hot dogs.
Her television debut came in 1987, when
she appeared on an episode of The Hogan Family playing the
niece of the Hogan’s next door neighbor.
Later, in 1987, she got her big break
when she took on the role of Stephanie Tanner (based on her smile)
on the extremely popular family television series Full House,
in fact, she grew up in front of America, since the show did not go
off the air until 1995. For her role, she won the Young Artist
Award for Best Young Actress Starring in a Television Series in
1990, and she was also nominated for this award on four other
occasions as well.
Jodie always was very good at school.
She skipped a grade in elementary school, graduated from Los
Alamitos High School (in 1999) and even earned an academic
scholarship. She graduated from Chapman University in Orange County,
California in 2003, with a general liberal arts degree with an eye
towards teaching acting.
In July 2002, she married Shaun Holguin
(which was attended by the whole cast of Full House), but
filed for divorce only four years later.
In February 2006, she went public about
her past addition to meth (methamphetamine) during an interview on
Good Morning America, but has been clean since March 2005
after checking into a drug rehab.
In 2008 she began divorce proceedings
with her husband.
Over the last few years, she has made a
few television appearances, including the hosting of a show entitled
Pants-Off Dance-Off, where real people strip to music. She
hopes to continue being an actress.
In 2009, she wrote a
memoir about her life growing up, working on Full House, and
her addiction to drugs.
On August 31, 2010,
Sweetin and her boyfriend, Morty Coyle, had a baby daughter, Beatrix
Carlin Sweetin Coyle. They became engaged a few months later,
on January 18, 2011. However, it was not all good news, a
month earlier, the State of California came knocking on her door
alleging she owed $30,000 in back taxes.
