JAMIE FOXX BIOGRAPHY

Jamie Foxx, named Eric Morlon Bishop,
was born on December 13, 1967 to Shaheed Abdulah and Louise Annette
(Talley) Dixon (divorced in 1973) in Terrell, Texas. He was raised
by his grandparents Mark and Esther Talley, who legally adopted him
when he was seven months old. He has two half-sisters and one
stepbrother.

Foxx showed an aptitude towards
entertaining at an early age, and started piano lessons at age 3 and
was in his church’s choir. He continued learning and performing
music. He was athletically gifted as well, and was the star
quarterback on his High School team. However, his passion for music
won out and he attended the United States International University
(in San Diego) with a music scholarship. He then also attended
Julliard where he mastered his skills on the piano.

After College, he moved to Los
Angeles. He was a struggling artist and began selling shoes to make
ends meet. Then one night he took his girlfriend out to the The
Comedy Store on an open mike night. She dared him to get up, and
when he did, he had the whole place laughing their heads off. He
soon quit his sales job and began doing stand-up comedy. It was
during these club years that he received his name Jamie Foxx.

His big break came in 1991, when he
received a role on the TV comedy, In Living Color, which he
maintained until 1994. He then tried his hand at music again, and
released the album Peep This. Although the critics loved his
R&B sound, it did not produce many sales. So he turned back to
acting and appeared in a few movies during the mid to late 1990’s,
such as Any Given Sunday and he also tried his hand with his own
self-titled television show, The Jamie Fox Show in 1996.

In 1995, while trying to make it he had
a daughter, Corinne with his girlfriend.

In 2000, he got his next big break with
his critically acclaimed role as Alvin Sanders in the movie
Bait.

In 2003, he made headlines when he got
into a fight with a police officer at a casino.

He overcame the bad press in 2004 with
his great performances in the movie Collateral, the made fneor
TV movie Redemption: The Stan Tookie Williams Story and the
blockbuster hit Ray. He won the Academy Award for his
portrayal of Ray Charles.
