BRAD PITT BIOGRAPHY

  • Brad Pitt was born on December 18, 1963 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Jane and Bill Pitt.  He was the oldest of three children (brother Doug and sister Julie).

  • He had a normal childhood and was very active in school plays, sports (tennis), the debate team and church. His family also moved to Springfield, Missouri when he was a child.

  • He attended Kickapoo High School in Springfield and after graduating in 1982, he attended the University of Missouri-Columbia.  He majored in Journalism.  Although, it was never his ambition growing up, he moved to Los Angeles before graduating to pursue a career as an actor.  He lied to his parents and told them he was finishing up school in L.A., since he only needed two more classes to graduate.

  • At first, he did not receive any acting jobs, however, he took acting lessons by day while working odd jobs to make money (e.g., delivering appliances, a limo driver for strippers and wearing a Chicken costume for a fast food restaurant).

  • His looks and talents eventually earned him appearances on television, such as Dallas and Another World.  He kept pushing and eventually made his movie debut in Cutting Class.  It was during the filming of this movie that he met long-time actress girlfriend Jill Schoelen.

  • After a few more small roles (e.g. Thelma & Louise), he appeared in larger parts such as Cool World (1992), A River Runs Through It (1992), True Romance (1993), Kalifornia (1993) and Interview With a Vampire (1994 – MTV Awards for Best Male Performance, Most Desirable Male and nominated for MTV Award for Best On-Screen Duo with Tom Cruise). Then his luck changed in 1994 when he appeared in Legends of the Fall in which he gained international acclaim as an actor and a sex symbol (especially after People magazine classified him as the “Sexiest Man Alive”). For this role he received the Bronze Wrangler Award for Theatrical Motion Picture and was nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama.  While all this was happening, he also won the 1993 ShoWest Male Star of Tomorrow award.

  • Legends of The FallHe went on to star in many other box-buster films such as Se7en (1995 – MTV Awards for Most Desirable Male and nominated for MTV Award for Best On-Screen Duo w/Morgan Freeman), Twelve Monkeys (1995 – nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and MTV Movie Award for Best Male Performance, and he won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture, Blockbuster Entertainment Award for Favorite Supporting Actor - Science Fiction and the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor), The Devil’s Own (1997), Seven Years in Tibet (1997 - Rembrandt Audience Award for Best Actor), Meet Joe Black (1998), Fight Club (1999) and Snatch (2000 – nominated for the Golden Satellite Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role, Comedy or Musical).

  • In July of 2000, he and Jennifer Aniston (actress of Friends fame), after a publicized relationship were married.  He also appeared on the television show and was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series.

  • More more roles came in for Brad Pitt such as The Mexican (2001), Ocean’s Eleven (2001 – nominated for the MTV Movie Award for Best On-Screen Team), the Spy Game (2001), Troy (2004) and Ocean’s Twelve (2004- nominated for the BFCA Award for Best Acting Ensemble (shared w/cast))

  • Jennifer Aniston filed for divorce in January 2005, the divorced became official on October 2, 2005.

  • He has also won the 2005 People’s Choice Award for Favorite Leading Man.

  • Originally Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (whom co-starred in Mr. and Mrs. Smith) deny rumors of a romantic relationship, the two "friends" have been spending a lot of time together after the split from Anniston, including a trip to Ethiopia (Africa) where Angelina was visiting in order to adopt a second child.

  • The rumors of a Brad-Jolie relationship have been "officially" confirmed with the January 2006 announcement that Angelina Jolie is pregnant with Brad Pitt's child.

  • Angeline Jolie gave birth to a baby girl on Saturday, May 27th 2006 in Africa.  She and Brad Pitt have named the child Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt. They have also adopted five other children: Maddox, Zahara, Pax, Knox, and Vivienne.

  • He became the sole owner of Plan B production company in 2006. In 2007, The Departed won the Academy Award for Best Picture, which was produced by his company.

  • Brad Pitt moved with Jolie and the rest of the family to New Orleans in January 2007.

  • His acting has been getting more notice as of 2006 and has garnered a number of awards and nominations for his roles, such as Richard in Babel (2006), The Assassination of Jesse James (2007), Burn After Reading (2007), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2007) [Academy Award nomination & won a SAG & Golden Globe], and Inglorious Bastards (2009).

  • In 2010, Pitt lent his voice to the character of Metro Man in the animated movie Megamind. In 2011, he co-starred with Sean Penn in the critically acclaimed The Tree of Life. He also received his third Academy Award nomination for his role as baseball manager Billy Beane in the movie Moneyball (which he also produced, and was nominated for Best Picture).

  • Along with Angelina Jolie, he is involved in many humanitarian causes around the world, putting in a lot of time and money to help each cause.

  • Favorites: movies = Planet of the Apes (original) and Saturday Night Fever.

  • Some famous women he has had romantic relationships with: Jill Schoelen, Geeena Davis, Juliette Lewis, Gwyneth Paltrow, Robin Givens, Jennifer Aniston: currently involved with Angelina Jolie (the couple is known as Brangelina or Bradgelina)
