Scooby-Doo is one of Hanna-Barbera’s most popular creations and it is definitely one of the greatest animated series of all time,” remarked Dorinda Marticorena, WHV Vice President, Kids and Sports Marketing.  She added, “For many, Scooby-Doo was their favorite childhood cartoon. Decade after decade, the series is still going strong with a whole new generation of viewers who can appreciate this delightful series on DVD.  This title is a must-have for all Scooby-Doo enthusiasts as well as fans of classic animation.”

Scooby-Doo’s awareness level and DVD purchase interest rank ahead of SpongeBob Squarepants, Lilo & Stitch, Jimmy Neutron and Fairly Odd Parents.  On television, Scooby-Doo reaches more than 27 million people each month.

Our Review of Title

All the fun that is Scooby-Doo and still no scrappy.  Here is the classic season three of one of my all-time greatest cartoon super sleuth teams Mystery Inc., starring the lovable Scooby-Doo and his human counterparts.  Yes, Scooby’s crime solving buddies do play large parts in this series; it is this bumbling, always hungry, usually scared canine that sits center stage.

Season three contains many of the classic episodes such as A Tar Monster, A Menace In Venice and Warlock of Wimbledon.  Based on the original series, this late seventies series has a lot of the early elements you are used to seeing, but sometimes with a little more depth.  It is the Scooby I remember most from my youth – and thankfully there is still no Scrappy-Doo in sight.

There are sixteen episodes on two discs and chock full of seventies cartoon fun dished up by Scooby-Doo, his half-witted buddy Shaggy and the core of the team Daphne, Fred and Velma.  They always wind up helping a friend or family member when innocently visiting a place and get caught up in one mystery or another.  Each episode introduces you to new “monsters” and bad guys that could only be seen in a cartoon.  The writing is innovative and keeps everyone entertained – both adults and children – since it is meant to be entertaining on all levels.

If that is not enough, the DVD set also includes the Featurette Hanna Barbera: From H to B. This looks at how the artists, writers and animators all work together to create this animated masterpiece.
