Our Review of Power Rangers Jungle Fury: Into The Jungle

Can you believe it, the Power Rangers have been around for sixteen years, and still going strong.  Although the franchise may have had its ups and downs over the years, it always reinvented itself to become a new series each season.  The sixteenth season gave way to the Power Rangers: Jungle Fury.  The series, as shown in these two DVDs from episodes of the show -- "Into the Jungle" and "Way of the Master" maintains the same elements as always -- there is this group of powerful young people that are trained to protect the universe against evil  Each of the rangers have their own powers, and each one is given their own color. Each season, there has always been a Red, Yellow and Blue, but there have been a number of Red, Yellow, Blue, Black, Green, White and some other miscellaneous colored rangers throughout the years.  Every season, they battle against evil villains (that are dressed in horrible costumes) and their evil minions.  Although it seems that the evil forces have won, the Power Rangers come back and save the day.

In "Into the Jungle," the red, blue and yellow Power Rangers are pitted against a 10,000 year old spirit and if they do not stop him, there are hundreds of more evil spirits ready to take over the world as well.  "Way of the Master" brings more of the evil minions of the Dai Sai against the Rangers, but they have the help of the Kung Fu clan to help them with new skills and weapons to help them with their fight.

As in episodes from a decade and a half ago, just like today, the acting is in-line with a show targeted at youngsters, but some of the effects are better than those of the very early days.  However, the costumes are not much better than the old days.  However, the one thing I always think about when I see those costumes is the way they remind me of the very old Flash Gordon episodes from the early days of television.

Kids seem to enjoy the Power Rangers, and now parents who enjoyed them as children can now watch the episodes with their own children.  Although I did not really watch this show, I have seen a few episodes over the years, and there is still those memories from years past.  Although there is violence in these shows, it is not so over-the-top and not very graphic as to keep children from watching it, however, parental discretion is advised.
