Phineas & Ferb: The Daze of Summer (v2)
Volume
2 now on DVD
From Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment
Summer fun lasts forever when
you hang with Phineas and Ferb, so pull up a beach chair and get ready to laugh
with 5 hilarious episodes from the smash-hit Disney Channel Original Series.
Viewers can get in on the fun and can create their own experiments! Super-smart
and seriously funny stepbrothers Phineas and Ferb come up with unusually
exciting ways to spend the lazy, crazy "daze" of summer -- like searching for
pirate's treasure, traveling to Mars, building Greek chariots and hosting a
Medieval jousting tournament! While the guys are cramming each long day with
cool friends, awesome adventures and totally rocking music, their pet platypus,
Perry (aka Agent P), continues to protect the world from the evil Dr.
Doofenschmirtz. And, of course, their big sis, Candace, keeps busy texting her
friends and trying to bust the bros.
Our Review
of Phineas & Ferb
The first time I saw a commercial for
this show, I thought it was going to be stupid, like so many of today's
animations. However, after watching a few episodes, I have actually come
to enjoy the show. The animation itself is nothing great with abstractly
drawn characters. However, the characters are well developed and the
stories are well written.
The stories remind me of my own
childhood imagination. The plans and inventions that Phineas and Ferb are
as I would have imagined as a child myself (and maybe still do). As
children, we all imagine incredible scenarios, and take the unimaginable as
though it were every day life -- just as does Phineas & Ferb. The fact
that the big sister sees everything and gets upset that she cannot get her
parents to see P&F's inventions is just topping on the cake to a piece of
reality. The shows are written for Teens and Tweens as well as include a
lot of subtle jokes for an adult mind.
The whole subplot with Perry the
platypus secret spy missions is just another whole aspect to the writer's
invitation to enter a world of imagination within a world of imagination.
They are also well written and provides a throwback to Spy vs Spy meets Hong
Kong Phooey. It is the combination of the main and sub-plots that make the
show so enjoyable.
There are some games that are also
part of this DVD, but I must admit that I have not had a chance to write them by
the time of this review (I promised to have this review in by 8 PM). But
the five episodes are enough to make this a good buy. It is a DVD that can
enjoyed by the kids and adults alike.
