Our Review of Peanuts Holiday Collection
With the huge selection of programming available for children these days, especially on cable & satellite, it is no wonder there are not big events that bring a family together to watch an animated special. I remember when I was young, when the holidays came around it meant that the peanuts would be on and that night we would sit in my parents room and watch these animated classics after days of anticipation. There were also no DVDs or VCRs back then, the one time a year that they were on was it, and if you missed it, it would be a whole other year away.
Now that we are older, we may not rush to watch a cartoon, however, we still try to provide that same feeling of family to our own children. Now, you can own these holiday classics with all your favorite Peanut characters from the mind of Charles Schultz. Although WB is not offering all three holiday cartoons separately - Its the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, and A Charlie Brown Christmas, you can now have all three together in one box set DVD collection. It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown has already been reviewed, so I will not do so again here, however, I am going to dedicate this review to the overall collection, as opposed to reviewing each particular episode. So, as mentioned, there are three DVDs, and each one comes with at least one classic Peanuts holiday episode.
Its The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown is reviewed here, but to summarize, it is one of my favorite of the animated episodes of Charlie Brown and friends and includes the great scene as Snoopy as a WW II ace. It also includes another episode, and a documentary on the making of the episode and why it was create.
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is another of the unforgettable episodes in which the Peanuts gang learns the true meaning behind the holiday and the friendship that needs to be shared with each other. A second related episode of the Peanuts as pilgrims is also included. Of course there is the "making of" featurette.
A Charlie Brown Christmas has also become a holiday classic in many homes. Every time I see a little old pathetic looking Christmas tree I always think back to this episode and the symbolism behind it. A second Christmas episode is also included along with yet another making of documentary for this episode. The DVD also includes a CD of 6 songs from the Peanuts Christmas album (a very nice extra bonus).
Relive those same feelings you had as a kid with your children, or loved ones, who will begin to make their own memories of these wonderful "cartoons."

Charlie Brown, Peppermint Patty, Linus, Snoopy, Woodstock and the rest of the Peanuts gang are back to celebrate your favorite holidays when Warner Home Video (WHV) releases the Peanuts Holiday Collection in a 3 DVD collector set which will include “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving”, “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and “It’s a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” Peanuts TV classics on September 23, 2008.
WHV will also release A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Deluxe Edition and A Charlie Brown Christmas Deluxe Edition re-mastered on DVD on October 7, 2008 for $19.98 SRP each. Order due date is September 2, 2008.
