| ER Season 11
|
Life is Fragile |
Dead Wife |
Mr. Cool Guy |
This is the second full season of ER I have watched (click
her read my review of season 10). I have caught an episode here and
there while surfing through the TV stations, but still have not been able to
watch it religiously (the timing just has not been able to work out for me).
But, I was able to catch up with everything through season 11 due to these DVDs.
This season was just as fascinating as the last, with all of the drama inside
the emergency room and out. Some of the scenarios were even very
imaginable such as the guy from the aquarium that had a shark impaled on him,
the blind woman that was lead by a horse, etc. Then there were all of the
normal car accidents, broken bones, heart attacks and all the rest that you
would expect in any emergency room. Then there is the usual drama with the
doctors and nurses and their personal lives that are displayed within and
without of the confines of the hospital. Also, as you probably know there was
also a little change in staff as well.
While watching this season, I began remembering my own experiences with the emergency room - both my own and while accompanying other people. For the most part, the emergency rooms did not seem as hectic as it shows on the television. Well, maybe it is because I did not come at a busy time. There was one time I was in the ER of a hospital with a trauma center and even that did not seem as hectic as on the TV, but if the ER was not very active, then why would we want to watch a show about it? As a TV show, they also go into the lives of the staff and the synergies between them, but that is also lost when you are not looking down from a microscope. For the most part you are hoping that you or the person you came in with is alright and that it will not be several hours before they take a look at you, take you up for the test/x-ray or let you know what is happening. The one thing I can say is that in interacting with several of the doctors, nurses and other hospital staff, I can say that they are just as dedicated and hard working as those that are portrayed on the show.
Besides the 22 episodes (which calls for a lot of hours of viewing), the DVD set also includes a bonus that provides some unseen/cut scenes from the show. The scenes were obviously cut for the sake of timing to fit into the TV time slot, but it is interesting why they were filmed in the first place, why those scenes were selected to be cut, and why (for some scenes) they could not be added to the following episode. Overall, another good DVD from an excellent series.
as the hospital doors shut for the last time, Warner Announces the Release of
ER: THE COMPLETE eleventh SEASON
ON DVD July 14, 2009
BURBANK, CA (March 18, 2009) – In its 11th season, the doctors of the ER continue to face the trials and tribulations of saving lives while protecting their own. This season’s gripping stories follow the daily lives of doctors old and new as they learn how to be better physicians while learning even more about themselves. After a decade of heart-pounding, heart-stopping, and heart-warming plotlines, this perennial favorite returns once again as Warner Home Video gets set to release ER: The Complete Eleventh Season on DVD on July 14, 2009.
Created by best-selling author Michael Crichton, the eleventh season of ER drew over 12 million household viewers each week. It’s no wonder viewership increased by several million during this season, as the inevitable challenges facing the doctors of County General only seemed to intensify. While continuing to explore the themes of work and family, love and loss, Season 11 delves headfirst into some intense and unusual cases, like the aquarium worker with a live shark latched on or the fraternity brother with an arrow in his stomach after a stunt gone wrong. The season culminates with the dramatic departure of Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle), which rocks County General and its employees to the core.
“ER: The Complete Eleventh Season features 22 emotionally charged and action packed episodes, continuing the stories of the doctors we have gotten to know and love for over a decade,” said Rosemary Markson, WHV Vice President, TV and Special Interest Marketing. “Building upon the series’ magnificent close on network TV, we’re delighted to be releasing Season 11 to the millions who have loved and cherished ER for so many years.”
Season 11 of ER starred Noah Wyle, Maura Tierney, Mekhi Phifer, Goran Visnjic, Sherry Stringfield, Ming-Na, Parminder Nagra, Linda Cardellini, Shane West and Laura Innes. The executive producers are Christopher Chulack, Michael Crichton, John Wells and Dee Johnson. ER is from Constant c Productions, Amblin Television in association with Warner Bros. Television.
