Linda Fiordelisi Interview

Flowers For The Dead

Linda Fiordelisi pictureQ: How did you become associated with this project (Flowers For The Dead)?

A: It doesn't hurt to be the wife.. but we both have the artsy fartsy complex...

Q: What made the movie appealing to you?

A: Film making...real/reel filmmaking is an art form in of itself and the nuances of Super 8 movie making is unmistakable

Q: Have you acted in horror films before?

A: Not in film, but upon request would do impromptu imitations of my favorite comics

Q: How did you like working with ghouls and the living dead?

A: I felt no pain, they had to put on the "dead-look," I just had to look like the bird in distress...at times you actually feel creeped out, that's when you know the scene came out good...

Q: How did it feel to work in a real cemetery?

A: Of course it always makes you more in touch with your own mortality. I found myself looking at the years that these people were born and died... the backdrop of a cemetery speaks for itself...right away it puts you in a certain realm a true set up for a horror movie

Q: What was the most challenging part about working on this film?

A: No shoes on the pinchy old cemetery grounds and walking on hot asphalt, the best was a sequence where I had to run from ghouls on the hot, pinchy gravel and it felt like I was still running several hours after shooting

Q: Were there any scenes that you had to film over and over to "get it right" - what was it and its circumstances?

A: Joe (aka william fkng friedkin) decided that we would do a sequence where I am fighting off a Ghoul with a large stick that had a a split center, so it would break easily on impact with  the Ghouls shoulder ....it did break and proceeded to ricochet and crash onto my left eye..we have that outtake at least..its funny to see now.

Q: Why do you think people should watch this film?

A: Because we made it...no really its a labor of love from a "die" hard horror film connoisseur who puts everything into whatever his obsession is at the moment...very dedicated to projecting this in a truer old style scary movie, as opposed to gratuitously gory touture films of this digital movie age...lets go back to the classic ways of making a 'Living Dead' film
