Rob Zombie Biography
An auteur filmmaker and music artist with shrewd
insight and creative vision, Rob Zombie challenges audiences as he
stretches the boundaries of film, music and publishing.
Zombie’s latest accomplishment is Dimension Film’s second edition of the
Halloween franchise: HALLOWEEN 2. The latest work of genius hit the
theatres on Labor Day weekend of 2009. This is coming off the coat tails
of Zombie’s initial reinvention of John Carpenter’s smash cult horror
film HALLOWEEN. The move premiered number one at the box office breaking
all Labor Day Weekend 2007 records, while grossing an estimated 31
million dollars.
HALLOWEEN 2 is Zombie’s fifth written and directed feature. Prior to the
success of HALLOWEEN, Zombie released the critically-acclaimed film THE
DEVIL’S REJECTS (2005), the follow-up to his cult classic HOUSE OF 1,000
CORPSES (2004). Zombie’s twisted, animated, R-rated feature film THE
HAUNTED WORLD OF EL SUPERBEASTO was initially unleashed on the world on
pay-per-view early September 09. With great praise of Zombies
brain-child, THE HAUNTED WORLD OF EL SUPERBEASTO then hit the ground
running as a special limited theatrical run and has currently turned
into a new cult collector film on the recent release of the Blu-ray DVD
version that came out September 22nd.
Zombie’s HALLOWEEN earned him two nominations for Spike TV’s Scream
Awards in 2008 for Best Director and Best Remake. Zombie and his
masterpiece took home Best Remake for this new cult classic.
Zombie, an accomplished recording artist, has sold over fifteen million
albums worldwide, making him one of Geffen Records’ top selling and
longest running artists. The year 2009 brought Zombie yet another Grammy
nomination for Best Hard Rock Performance for Lords of Salem off the
Educated Horses album [Geffen Records]. 2009 also brings a new studio
album, HELLBILLY DELUXE 2 on Geffen Records.
Additionally, he is the most prolific Geffen Artist when it comes to
Gold and Platinum discs. His seven are the most total number by any
Geffen artist solely on the merit of their Geffen output:
• La Sexorcisto: Devil Music, Vol. 1 (1992) - US 2x Platinum
• Astro Creep: 2000 - (1995) - US 3x Platinum
• Supersexy Swingin' Sounds - the Astro-Creep remixes (1996) - US Gold
• Hellbilly Deluxe (1998) - US 3x Platinum
• American Made Music to Strip By - the Hellbilly remixes (1999) - US
Gold
• The Sinister Urge (2001) - US Platinum
• Past, Present & Future - greatest hits compilation (2003) - US
Platinum
Zombie has directed over twenty five hi-profile music videos having
contributed recordings to soundtracks and is known for twisting the
imagination and boundaries of both film and music. In 1995 Zombie won an
MTV Music Video Award for "More Human Than Human," becoming the first
self-directed artist to win such an award. Zombie has also directed
numerous music videos for other artists besides himself, his band White
Zombie, Zakk Wylde’s Black Label Society and other distinguished artists
including most recent Ozzy Osbourne. Fall 2009 brings the return The
Hellbilly! The HELLBILLY DELUXE 2 TOUR brings back the Master of monster
mayhem. Zombie is back destroying the United States on a full fall tour
in support of his new studio album HELLBILLY DELUXE 2 on Geffen Records.
Not since 1998’s super smash triple platinum HELLBILLY DELUXE has Zombie
hit the road under that moniker.
The tour blasts off in Phoenix, AZ on October 29th, Las Vegas, NV on the
30th, and a very special Halloween event on the 31st in Hollywood, CA
hosted by Uncle Seymour Coffins also seen recently in HALLOWEEN 2.
Zombie will be accompanied by his longtime band mates -guitarist John 5,
bassist Piggy D, and drummer Tommy Clufetos.
“I am bouncing off the walls like a mental patient”, says Zombie “That
tells me it’s time to take it to the stage and let the demons loose.”
