Josiah Leming's Angels Under Cover brings together elements of piano rock, folk and San Francisco grunge.  Okay, maybe not so much the grunge element, but it does have that melancholy feeling.  My first feelings about this album during my first listen-through were positive.  I liked the sound and the keyboard accompaniment and just found it very easy to listen to.  I cannot say it was the greatest thing I had ever heard before, but definitely not the worst.

Each track is like story from Leming's soul.  Some can say the lyrics are a bit strange at times (e.g, "and the bones are pushin' right outta my skin"), but others might just say that they are full of symbolic imagery. He does try to tell stories through his lyrics, and one must listen carefully to the words to follow along.  This brings me to my biggest criticism of the album, and artist -- the words seem to be mumbled together ala grunge fashion (although "The Cigar" was not bad), and I had to pay close attention to the annunciation to get the lyrics clearly (I later noticed that all the lyrics are included with the EP).  My second criticism is the poor production on "Theysay" - at one point it sound like there is some type of feedback or electronic interference occurring during the recording.

Overall, it was a really nice EP and looking forward to hearing a lengthier LP to hear some additional tracks.
